My dear Spencer
I duly received your very kind telephonic message intimating that I had been elected to the responsible office of Councillor to the University of Melbourne. I thank you very sincerely for your congratulations. The appointment has been very pleasing to me but I think that the congratulations which have been made to me as by yourself make it even more agreeable. I hope that I may be able to be of service in my new office to the University of Melbourne.
