My dear Howitt,

Kershaw & myself had a search round the Museum skeletons to find out what exact beast the phalange bones belonged to. They are those of the third (longest) toe of a Pelican. Also I wanted to know if you can give your vote for the Council of the University to Mr Fink. We especially want him because of his

wide general knowledge of matters educational . I am hoping that Dr Wilson will retire as we feel that Mr Fink has most exceptional claims. Meanwhile we are working hard as we have to fight an extraordinary combination of Presbyterians, Methodists, Anglicans and R.Cs.

I wish I could get up to Metung but it is hopeless & I shall be full up until I can get away to New Zealand where there are no committees & no telephones.

Kind Regards.

Yours very sincerely

W. Baldwin Spencer.
