W.B. Spencer Diary Spencer and Gillen 2, 1901, No.4

Physical Description

Notebook. Orange, bi-script. Label adhered to front cover with typed annotation. Yellow sticker with number 1. Pages are very fragile and binding is deteriorating. First two pages are detached. Entries are fading. Handwritten annotation inside front cover. Two loose typed transcripts of first two pages are folded in half and have been placed in correct order. wo pressed leaves are also enclosed.

Primary Comments

Spencer's field Diary 1901-2. The expedition commenced in Adelaide March 15 1901 and ended in Melbourne March 17 1902. Written on front of book (not in Spencer's hand) "National Museum of Victoria, Melbourne. Spencer's Papers. Notebook No.1". Typed label read: "W.B. Spencer Diary Spencer & Gillen 2, 1901 No. 4." On inside cover written in Spencer's hand "Diary. S.G. 2. 1901". The first entry is Camp 39 August 23 1901, Tennant Creek and the ends with Camp 70, Nov 10th at Borroloola.
