Spencer 1901 collection, cylinder no.16. On box is written: 'Sentences spoken by two women of the Arunta - Charlotte Waters, March 29th 1901.' 1. Announcement: As per box. 2-3. English sentences followed by Western Arrarnta translation by female vocal. Sentences: "Where are your two boys?"; "I have two picaninnies"; "I am thirsty"; "I have a bone [?] in my leg"; "I have come a long way"; "I have caught two young emus"; "[indecipherable]"; "Emus are laying eggs in the sand dune now"; "I live at Charlotte Waters"; "...looking for emu at Williumpa[?]"; "The waterholes are full of [indecipherable]"; "My sister's children are my children"; "The opossums are all poor"; "Charlotte, the [?] lubra is very fat"; "Give me some meat"; "I am tired, I want to sleep". C6/1187 (better quality) is the master, C6/1143, C6/1144 and C6/1145 are duplicates. Good quality recording but with fluctuating speeds.
