My dear Howittt,
I have been waiting to answer your letter & invitation till I could tell how my is fixed during this short vac. The first two days were occupied with extra teaching & today I have to run across to Adelaide & though I shall be back on Friday - or ought to be - the remaining few days I must put in at the dreary work - of which we have had many hours lately - of attempting to classify and register teachers under the new Registration Act. It is soulkilling & to ourselves purposeless work but it must be done. Wherefore to my regret I

cannot possibly get to Metung. That special map is safe. I retained it for a time to make a tracing of it as I want to use it in my new book which makes but slow progress.

I am very glad indeed to hear that you are going to make your address as personally reminiscent as possible. If I can be of help in any way be sure & let me know. I wish meeting were a little nearer to Melbourne.
